My Heavenly Father
Created by God
And loved as a daughter,
That’s why I call Him
My “Heavenly Father”.
He never gave up,
And He never gave in
Whether I was following
Or running from Him.
I ran for a long time.
He stayed right by my side.
I’d hear Him whisper,
“My child, come inside.”
I thought I knew best,
As most children do
And I kept on running,
And then hiding too.
But, He knew where to find me.
And as most dads would do,
He said, “My daughter, I love you,
Let me help you through.”
“I know all your secrets,
Your sins and your pride.
My child, I still love you.
Won’t you please come inside?”
I have to tell you,
It was tempting, for sure.
I was tired from running –
Alone . . . insecure.
But how could He love me,
After all I had done?
I had run so long,
Could it really be done?
Then He stretched out His arms,
And said, “My child, come on home.
I’ll never leave you.
You’re never alone.”
I ran into His arms.
He held me so tight.
I felt so secure.
I knew I’d be all right.
I cried, “Lord I’m sorry,
For the things I have done.
He said, “Child, that’s why I’ve given
My only son!”
“Your sins are forgiven,
Forgotten . . .they’re gone!
I love you, my child.
I’m glad you are home!”
